    ALOHA: A Unified Platform-Aware Evaluation Method for CNNs Execution on Heterogeneous Systems at the Edge

    CNN design and deployment on embedded edge-processing systems is an error-prone and effort-hungry process, that poses the need for accurate and effective automated assisting tools. In such tools, pre-evaluating the platform-aware CNN metrics such as latency, energy cost, and throughput is a key requirement for successfully reaching the implementation goals imposed by use-case constraints. Especially when more complex parallel and heterogeneous computing platforms are considered, currently utilized estimation methods are inaccurate or require a lot of characterization experiments and efforts. In this paper, we propose an alternative method, designed to be flexible, easy to use, and accurate at the same time. Considering a modular platform and execution model that adequately describes the details of the platform and the scheduling of different CNN operators on different platform processing elements, our method captures precisely operations and data transfers and their deployment on computing and communication resources, significantly improving the evaluation accuracy. We have tested our method on more than 2000 CNN layers, targeting an FPGA-based accelerator and a GPU platform as reference example architectures. Results have shown that our evaluation method increases the estimation precision by up to 5× for execution time, and by 2\times for energy, compared to other widely used analytical methods. Moreover, we assessed the impact of the improved platform-awareness on a set of neural architecture search experiments, targeting both hardware platforms, and enforcing 2 sets of latency constraints, performing 5 trials on each search space, for a total number of 20 experiments. The predictability is improved by 4\times , reaching, with respect to alternatives, selection results clearly more similar to those obtained with on-hardware measurements

    The situational context effect in non-language-majoring EFL students' meaning comprehension

    AbstractThe article aims to explore the importance of the situational context for enhancing students’ comprehension of particular phrases of the English language in their native-like use. This case study particularly focuses on situation-bound utterances and opportunities for creating relevant learning environment in the process of teaching. The authors present the results involving Russian EFL non-language-majoring students to rely on their comprehension of such phrases depending on the context. It analyses to what extent the situational context helps students comprehend and infer the meaning of SBUs in two organized ways – within and outside of the socio-cultural situation

    Joint Value as a Measure of Sea Trade Port Stakeholder Effect

    This article is devoted to an efficiency measurement of the maritime industry presented through the joint value of industry stakeholders. A list of factors contributing to the efficiency of the state maritime policy and factors in the development of the maritime industry were defined and separated into four groups: group 1 (infrastructural factors): Renewal of port infrastructure; coastal infrastructure of sea stations; ecological and physical safety; and convenience in reaching the port of departure of a cruise ship; group 2 (management factors): The effectiveness of management mechanisms; the level of automatization and effective communications technologies; the coordination of various types of transport; and the efficiency of port services; group 3 (marketing factors): Tariff policies (tariff amounts, number of port fees, flexibility of the price policy); and competition in the ports; group 4 (service factors): Attractiveness of logistics conditions; the development of international tourism; the development of sea leisure; the development of merchant shipping, shipbuilding, ship repair, and instrument making in the port; and the simplification of port entry procedures. The joint value was considered to be a category at both a macroeconomic and microeconomic level, and it was combined with a multivariate regression model performed on the basis of the statistical analysis and data processing system Statistica 8.0. The complex combination of the results of the multifactorial linear model of the joint value created in the maritime industry led to the conclusion that the best alternative to the development of the port industry in Ukraine is the scenario of state modernization and corporatization in the port business model

Solving the problem of production and consumption waste is becoming one of the priority areas, since it simultaneously contains the following components: economic (disposal cost, saving natural resources), environmental (reducing releases of harmful substances into the environment) and social (new jobs, reducing the burden of diseases, fostering an attitude of care towards nature among the population).     Composite Cathodes Based on Lithium-Iron Phosphate and N-Doped Carbon Materials

    The effect of different nitrogen-doped carbon additives (carbon coating from polyaniline, N-doped carbon nanotubes, and N-doped carbon nanoparticles) on electrochemical performance of nanocomposites based on the olivine-type LiFePO4 was investigated. Prepared materials were characterized by XRD, SEM, TGA-MS, CHNS-analysis, IR-, Raman, and impedance spectroscopies. Polyaniline deposition on the LiFePO4 precursor with following annealing lead to the formation of a LiFePO4/C nanocomposite with a carbon coating doped with nitrogen. Due to nitrogen atoms presence in carbon coating, the LiFePO4/N-doped carbon nanocomposites showed enhanced conductivity and C-rate capability. The discharge capacities of the synthesized materials in LIBs were close to the theoretical value at 0.1 C and retained high values with increasing current density. At high C-rates, the best results were obtained for a more dispersed LiFePO4/C composite with carbon coating prepared from polyaniline previously in situ deposited on LiFePO4 precursor particles. Its discharge capacity reached 96, 84, 73, and 47 mAh g−1 at 5, 10, 20, and 60 C-rates, respectively

    Current Asset Management of Industrial Enterprises in the Context of Implementation of A Marketing Strategy

    In the context of the global financial and economic crisis, with a drop-in sales and profitability of an enterprise, the marketing approach to management, as a strategic tool, becomes especially relevant. The purpose of the article is to study the main approaches to improving the management of working assets of industrial enterprises in the context of implementing a marketing strategy. The research is carried out on the materials of open access State Enterprise “Antonov”, which is part of the concern “Ukroboronprom”. The study found that in addition to basic marketing indicators, it is advisable to use indicators that reflect the efficiency of enterprise management. Profitability indicators allow you to assess the effectiveness of sales or assets for an unstable and crisis state of an industrial enterprise. Turnover indicators allow assessing the speed of cash flow to identify the state of the problematics of the enterprise. The analysis established the relationship between indicators of the effectiveness of marketing instruments and financial indicators of the enterprise. In terms of indicators, it is possible to adjust the set of marketing tools used, affecting the increase in the efficiency of managing the working assets of an industrial enterprise. Based on the analysis of the financial condition of the enterprise, the main problematic aspects of the management of current assets of industrial enterprises are highlighted. The indicators show that the structure and volume of the Antonov State Enterprise's financial resources are not satisfactory. The company does not have enough permanent sources of financing to ensure the stability of production and sales activities. The current level of financial stability of the enterprise is formed by a relatively high volume of reserves formed due to the available short-term liabilities. The analysis shows that the company needs time to pay off current and long-term obligations at the expense of the money received from the sale of goods and services. The risk of an increase in the cost of material resources and services was identified, which is associated with a decrease in the company's solvency. The reduction in the duration of the operating cycle indicates a slight decrease in the quality of the Antonov State Enterprise's operating process. In the course of the study, modern approaches are highlighted and the main directions for improving the management of working assets of industrial enterprises for the implementation of a marketing strategy are proposed. It has been proved that special attention is required by the company's policy for managing operational and financial risks, aimed at minimizing them. As tools for improving the management of the company's current assets, it is proposed to introduce planning and budgeting of cash flows, use a payment calendar for these purposes, which will allow to control the liquidity of the enterprise
